Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE replaces traditional mouse switches with haptic controls

The Logitech G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE takes a different approach to one of the most familiar parts of a gaming mouse: the click. Logitech replaces conventional microswitches under the two main buttons with its Haptic Inductive Trigger System, or HITS. The system combines analogue sensing with adjustable actuation, rapid-trigger reset points and haptic feedback.

Logitech targets the mouse at competitive and esports players. It combines the new click technology with a HERO 2 sensor, LIGHTSPEED 2 wireless connectivity and an 8,000Hz maximum report rate. Current Logitech support specifications put its weight at 60g and battery life at up to 90 hours of constant motion.

The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE appears on Logitech G’s South African website in the company’s PRO Series. Logitech currently lists it in a Lunar Eclipse colour scheme.

TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE. This article therefore examines its verified hardware and features rather than making conclusions about click feel, comfort or competitive performance.

HITS changes how the main mouse buttons work

Traditional gaming mice normally use a physical or optical switching mechanism to register the main button presses. The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE replaces the conventional microswitches beneath its primary buttons with inductive analogue sensing.

Logitech calls the implementation Haptic Inductive Trigger System, or HITS. Copper coils create an electromagnetic field that allows the system to detect the movement of the button through its travel. Logitech lists total click travel at 0.6mm.

The analogue design gives Logitech more control over where a click activates. It also lets the software determine when the button resets after the player begins releasing it.

That concept resembles the adjustable actuation and rapid-trigger systems that have become common on high-end gaming keyboards. Logitech has now applied a similar idea to the two primary mouse buttons.

Players can choose from 10 actuation points

The main buttons provide 10 adjustable actuation points. Players can change how far a button needs to travel before the mouse registers the click.

A shallow setting can make the button respond sooner. A deeper actuation point requires more deliberate movement before it registers.

Neither option is automatically better. A competitive FPS player may prefer a highly sensitive click for rapid firing. Another player might choose additional travel to reduce accidental inputs.

The settings apply independently to the two main buttons. Logitech G HUB handles the advanced configuration.

Five rapid-trigger reset points control when the button is ready again

The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE also provides five rapid-trigger reset levels. These settings determine how far the button needs to return before the system considers it ready for another input.

This can matter during repeated clicks. A traditional switch normally has fixed actuation and reset behaviour. HITS allows the player to change those characteristics through software.

A shorter reset distance could help with rapid repeated input. A larger distance may provide a more deliberate response.

The feature will have greater value in games where repeated clicks matter. Casual players may see less practical benefit than competitive users who actively tune their peripherals.

Haptic feedback replaces some of the physical switch feel

Removing a conventional microswitch creates another challenge. Players still need feedback that tells them when the mouse has registered the click.

Logitech addresses this with haptic actuators. They provide tactile feedback when the button reaches its actuation and reset points. The current product page lists six haptic intensity levels.

This allows players to alter how strongly the click responds without changing the underlying actuation point. Someone could therefore configure a very short actuation distance while retaining stronger tactile feedback.

TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested the haptics. Their feel, noise and usefulness will depend on personal preference.

Logitech claims up to a 30ms reduction in click latency

Click latency sits at the centre of Logitech’s marketing for SUPERSTRIKE. The company claims HITS can reduce click latency by up to 30 milliseconds compared with traditional microswitch-based designs.

That figure is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent TechnologyBlog.co.za test result. The practical advantage will also depend on the game, PC, display, wireless environment and the player’s own reaction time.

A 30ms difference could matter in highly competitive situations, but buyers should not treat it as a guaranteed advantage in every game or every click.

The more broadly useful feature may be customisation. Adjustable actuation and reset points let players change the button behaviour rather than accepting one fixed switch design.

HERO 2 reaches 44,000 DPI

Movement tracking comes from Logitech’s HERO 2 sensor. Logitech lists an adjustable resolution from 100 to 44,000 DPI.

The sensor supports speeds above 888 inches per second and acceleration above 88G. Logitech also specifies operation without added smoothing, acceleration or filtering across its supported range.

Most players will never use a 44,000 DPI setting in normal gameplay. Competitive players typically select a much lower sensitivity and combine it with in-game settings.

The maximum figure instead shows the sensor’s technical range. Tracking consistency at the user’s preferred sensitivity matters more than simply selecting the highest available DPI.

LIGHTSPEED 2 supports an 8,000Hz report rate

The mouse uses LIGHTSPEED 2 wireless technology and supports a maximum USB report rate of 8,000Hz. At that setting, the mouse can report information to the PC every 0.125ms.

Higher polling rates can reduce the delay between mouse updates. They also generate more USB activity and may use additional system resources compared with conventional 1,000Hz operation.

The benefit becomes easier to justify on high-refresh-rate gaming systems. Players using a standard 60Hz display are less likely to extract the same practical value from an 8,000Hz mouse.

Logitech also supports wired operation through the supplied USB cable. The included wireless receiver uses USB-A.

HERO 2 and 8K polling are not unique to SUPERSTRIKE

The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE shares several specifications with Logitech’s existing PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2. Both use HERO 2 tracking, reach 44,000 DPI and support an 8,000Hz maximum report rate. Both also weigh about 60g according to Logitech’s current specifications.

The main difference therefore sits under the primary buttons. The PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 uses Logitech’s LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches, while SUPERSTRIKE uses inductive analogue switches with adjustable actuation and haptics.

Battery life differs slightly as well. Logitech rates the PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 at up to 95 hours of constant motion and the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE at up to 90 hours.

For existing PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 owners, SUPERSTRIKE therefore represents a change in click technology rather than a complete reinvention of the sensor platform.

The mouse weighs 60g

Logitech’s current support documentation lists the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE at 60g. Its dimensions measure 125 × 63.5 × 40mm.

Those measurements match the familiar PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 shape. The lightweight design keeps the emphasis on fast movement rather than adding large numbers of extra controls.

Logitech developed the SUPERSTRIKE with input from more than 100 esports professionals across teams including NAVI, G2, GEN.G, BLG and FlyQuest RED. That collaboration does not establish that the shape will suit every hand or grip style.

Mouse comfort remains highly personal. Hand size, grip style and sensitivity can matter as much as the specifications.

Battery life reaches a rated 90 hours

Logitech rates the rechargeable battery for up to 90 hours of constant motion.

Real battery endurance can vary according to polling rate, haptic settings and usage. TechnologyBlog.co.za has not independently measured battery performance.

The supplied 1.8m USB-A to USB-C cable handles charging and data. Players can therefore continue using the mouse over a wired connection when necessary.

The receiver also supports LIGHTSPEED 2’s 2:1 pairing feature with a compatible keyboard receiver. This can reduce the number of USB ports needed for supported Logitech G equipment.

Logitech G HUB controls the advanced settings

Many of SUPERSTRIKE’s distinguishing features depend on Logitech G HUB. The software manages actuation points, rapid-trigger behaviour and haptic intensity.

The mouse also contains onboard memory. Players can therefore retain supported settings after configuring the device through G HUB. Logitech notes that advanced features require the software.

This becomes useful for esports players who move between systems. Saving an established configuration to the mouse reduces the need to rebuild every setting on another computer.

Players should still keep G HUB and the mouse firmware current when Logitech releases compatibility or performance updates.

What comes in the box?

Logitech supplies the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE with its LIGHTSPEED receiver and a receiver extension adapter. A 1.8m USB-A to USB-C charging and data cable also comes in the package.

The box includes optional grip tape, a cleaning cloth and an alternative aperture door with a PTFE foot. Logitech also supplies the user documentation.

The optional grip material allows players to alter how securely the mouse sits in the hand without permanently changing the shell.

Who should consider the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE?

The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE makes the strongest case for competitive players who already care about mouse actuation and click behaviour. Its HITS system offers considerably more control over the two main buttons than a conventional fixed-switch design.

FPS and esports players may find the adjustable reset system particularly interesting. They can tune the buttons for very short repeated actions or select more deliberate settings according to preference.

Casual players face a different calculation. HERO 2, 8K polling and a 60g chassis are already available on the PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2. SUPERSTRIKE’s main reason to exist is therefore its new click system rather than a major leap in basic tracking specifications.

TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested whether HITS provides a meaningful competitive advantage in real matches. Players should therefore view Logitech’s latency claims as manufacturer performance claims rather than guaranteed results.

PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE is listed on Logitech G South Africa

Logitech G currently lists the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE on its South African website as part of its PRO Series gaming-mouse range. The local page identifies it as a LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse and highlights HITS as its defining feature.

The mouse represents an unusual development in a category where sensor specifications have become increasingly similar at the high end. Instead of concentrating only on higher DPI or faster polling, Logitech has changed how the primary buttons detect and communicate a click.

That makes the HITS system the key question for prospective buyers. The HERO 2 sensor, 8,000Hz report rate and lightweight chassis already provide familiar PRO-series foundations. Adjustable analogue actuation, rapid reset and haptic feedback are what distinguish the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE from Logitech’s existing competitive mice.
