Christopher Judge at Comic Con Africa 2026: dates and appearance details

Christopher Judge was scheduled for three days at Comic Con Africa 2026 in Johannesburg, giving South African God of War and Stargate SG-1 fans a local appearance by the actor behind two major pop-culture characters.

Judge was scheduled to appear at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec from Friday, 25 September to Sunday, 27 September 2026. Comic Con Africa itself runs from 24 to 27 September.

For gaming audiences, Judge is best known as the voice and performance-capture actor behind Kratos in the modern God of War games. Television viewers will recognise him as Teal’c, one of the central characters in Stargate SG-1.

His appearance therefore sits comfortably across two major parts of the Comic Con audience: gaming and science fiction.

Christopher Judge brought a different Kratos to God of War

Kratos existed long before Christopher Judge joined the franchise.

The earlier God of War games focused heavily on the character’s rage and conflict with figures from Greek mythology. When Sony Santa Monica reintroduced Kratos in 2018, the series moved into a Norse setting and presented an older version of the character.

Judge’s performance became central to that change.

The 2018 God of War placed considerably more emphasis on Kratos’s relationship with his son Atreus, while still retaining the combat and mythology that defined the franchise.

Judge returned for God of War Ragnarök in 2022.

His performance as Kratos received major industry recognition, including the Best Performance award at The Game Awards 2022 and BAFTA’s Performer in a Leading Role award in 2023.

For South African gamers, his Comic Con appearance provides a relatively rare opportunity to see one of modern gaming’s prominent performance actors without travelling to an overseas convention.

Comic Con Africa’s gaming offering has also grown considerably beyond celebrity appearances. Readers planning to spend time in the gaming halls can see our Comic Con Africa 2026 gaming overview for more on the esports competitions, gaming activations and technology brands appearing at the event.

Stargate fans know Judge as Teal’c

Judge’s career reaches much further back than God of War.

For science-fiction fans, he remains closely associated with Teal’c from Stargate SG-1.

Teal’c was a Jaffa warrior who defected from the Goa’uld and became one of the central members of the SG-1 team. Judge remained closely connected to the franchise throughout its television run and also contributed as a writer.

The role made him one of the most recognisable faces from the Stargate television era.

Judge’s wider television career includes appearances in productions such as MacGyver, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Sirens.

Animation fans may also recognise another connection to a major comic-book franchise: Judge voiced Magneto in X-Men: Evolution.

That breadth explains why his Comic Con Africa appearance is relevant to considerably more than the gaming audience alone.

When is Christopher Judge appearing at Comic Con Africa?

Judge had been scheduled to attend on:

Friday, 25 September 2026
Saturday, 26 September 2026
Sunday, 27 September 2026

He is not currently scheduled to appear on the opening Thursday.

Comic Con Africa’s programme includes celebrity spotlight sessions where visitors can hear guests discuss their careers and projects. These stage appearances are separate from the paid autograph and professional photo sessions.

Visitors travelling specifically to see Judge should check the final Comic Con Africa programme before leaving for Nasrec because convention schedules can change.

Christopher Judge photos and autographs cost extra

Meeting a celebrity at Comic Con Africa works differently from simply watching a Main Stage appearance.

Professional photos and autographs are sold as separate experiences.

Christopher Judge’s photo opportunities have been listed at R800, while a one-item autograph session has also been listed at R800.

An additional quote option has been available for visitors wanting a short personalised quote added to an autograph.

These purchases do not replace a Comic Con Africa entrance ticket.

Visitors need both a valid Comic Con Africa ticket for the relevant day and the applicable celebrity add-on if they want a paid photograph or autograph.

That distinction is worth considering when budgeting for the event.

Someone attending primarily for the convention floor, gaming, Artist Alley and Main Stage has a very different potential spend from a visitor planning several celebrity photos and autographs.

Individual sessions can also sell out independently of general admission, so fans wanting a specific Judge experience should check availability before travelling.

Christopher Judge joins a large 2026 guest line-up

Judge is only one part of Comic Con Africa’s 2026 celebrity programme.

The convention has also announced guests spanning animation, television, comics and streaming productions.

The Rick and Morty voice cast representation includes Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden and Spencer Grammer, while Alison Sealy-Smith brings another animation connection through her role as Storm in X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97.

Richard T Jones is also part of the programme.

South African actors associated with Netflix’s live-action One Piece production further strengthen the local connection.

That combination gives Comic Con Africa a guest programme spanning video games, animation, television and comic-book properties rather than relying on one entertainment category.

Why Christopher Judge’s Johannesburg appearance matters

International celebrity appearances are a major part of the Comic Con model, but the value for South African fans is particularly straightforward.

Actors and gaming performers who regularly appear at conventions in North America and Europe do not necessarily make equivalent public appearances in South Africa.

Comic Con Africa creates an opportunity for local fans to attend those sessions without adding international flights and accommodation to the cost.

Judge is particularly relevant because his fan base crosses several generations.

Stargate SG-1 viewers may have followed Teal’c since the late 1990s, while a younger gaming audience may know Judge almost entirely through Kratos.

That creates the possibility of two very different groups arriving at the same celebrity spotlight for completely different reasons.

Comic Con Africa 2026 ran for four days in Johannesburg

Comic Con Africa 2026 took place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec from 24 to 27 September.

The event brings together gaming, comics, cosplay, anime, film, television, Artist Alley, esports, tabletop gaming, exhibitors and celebrity appearances.

The published schedule had Judge joining the convention one day after it opened and remaining on the guest programme through Sunday.

Anyone attending primarily to see him should therefore ensure that their general-admission ticket and any celebrity photo or autograph booking are for the same day.

The 2026 Johannesburg event has now concluded. This article preserves the published appearance information as a reference; individual session times and availability were always subject to the final event programme.
