ASUS Vivobook S14: Power Meets Portability
The ASUS Vivobook S14 S3407AA combines Intel’s Core Ultra 7 355 processor with a 14-inch OLED display and Copilot+ PC hardware. Evetech currently offers a customised South African configuration with 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 4TB NVMe SSD.
Evetech lists this version for R35,699, including free delivery. The retailer shows a list price of R41,699 and marks the laptop as in stock. It also advertises a three-year warranty and a complimentary Promate Lush-Pro wireless earphone set. Prices and promotional extras can change without notice.
The large 4TB drive needs some context. ASUS lists the S3407AA with factory storage options of 512GB or 1TB. The 4TB configuration therefore appears to use an Evetech storage upgrade rather than a standard ASUS factory specification.
TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested this laptop. This article covers the verified specifications, current South African price and practical buying considerations.
Core Ultra 7 355 brings a 49 TOPS NPU
The Vivobook S14 S3407AA uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor. It has eight cores, eight threads and 12MB of cache. Clock speeds can reach 4.7GHz.
More importantly, the processor includes an Intel NPU rated at up to 49 TOPS. That gives the S3407AA enough local AI performance to qualify as a Copilot+ PC.
The NPU handles supported AI workloads without relying entirely on the CPU or cloud services. Windows can use it for compatible Copilot+ features and AI-assisted applications. Software still needs specific NPU support before it can take advantage of this hardware.
Intel integrated graphics handle visual workloads. The laptop does not include a dedicated Nvidia or AMD GPU.
That makes the Vivobook S14 better suited to productivity than demanding gaming. It should handle office applications, web use and media work comfortably. Heavy 3D rendering and high-end gaming remain better suited to a laptop with discrete graphics.
The 14-inch OLED display is one of the highlights
Evetech’s configuration uses a 14-inch WUXGA OLED display with a 1920 × 1200 resolution. The 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical workspace than a traditional 16:9 panel.
ASUS lists the OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time. It reaches a quoted 300 nits of brightness and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The panel also carries TÜV Rheinland certification.
OLED technology can deliver deep blacks and strong contrast because individual pixels produce their own light. This makes the display attractive for video, photography and general media consumption.
However, TechnologyBlog.co.za has not measured its colour accuracy or maximum brightness. Professional photographers and designers should calibrate the screen before relying on it for colour-critical work.
The 60Hz refresh rate also separates this model from gaming-focused laptops. Buyers looking for smoother 120Hz or 144Hz motion should consider another product category.
32GB of RAM reaches ASUS’s official maximum
The Evetech configuration includes 32GB of DDR5 memory. This matches the maximum total system memory that ASUS publishes for the S3407AA platform.
That amount gives the laptop plenty of room for demanding multitasking. Developers can run large browser sessions, development tools and virtualised workloads more comfortably than on a 16GB machine.
Creative applications can also benefit when several large files remain open at once. However, the integrated graphics still limit workloads that depend heavily on GPU acceleration.
Evetech also advertises 48GB and 64GB upgrade options on the same product family. Those amounts exceed ASUS’s published 32GB maximum. Buyers considering those configurations should confirm compatibility and warranty conditions directly with the retailer.
The 32GB configuration avoids that uncertainty because it stays within ASUS’s stated limit.
The 4TB SSD stands out, but it is a retailer upgrade
Storage is where this particular Evetech configuration differs most from the official ASUS specification.
The laptop comes with a 4TB NVMe SSD, which provides far more space than the 512GB and 1TB drives listed by ASUS. Evetech identifies the machine as model S3407AA-OU716512S0W/32GB/4TB.
ASUS lists one M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 storage slot for the S3407 series. Its published factory configurations reach 1TB.
This strongly indicates that Evetech replaces or upgrades the original SSD before selling the 4TB version. Buyers should confirm the brand and model of the installed drive if storage performance matters.
A 4TB SSD can make sense for photographers, developers and users with large local media libraries. It also reduces reliance on external storage.
For ordinary office work, 4TB may be excessive. The base 512GB version costs considerably less, so buyers should consider whether they genuinely need the additional capacity.
A 70Wh battery supports the portable design
The Vivobook S14 carries a 70Wh four-cell battery, which is relatively large for a 14-inch productivity laptop. ASUS promotes battery life of up to 29 hours for the broader S3407 family under its own test conditions.
That figure should not be treated as a guaranteed working time. Screen brightness, applications, Wi-Fi use and background activity can change battery endurance significantly.
ASUS also lists fast charging that can reach 60% in 49 minutes under suitable conditions. The S3407AA uses a USB-C power adapter.
TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested the battery performance of this South African configuration. The larger 4TB SSD and specific software setup could also affect real-world endurance.
At 1.4kg, it remains easy to carry
The Vivobook S14 weighs approximately 1.4kg and measures 31.52 × 22.34cm. Its thickness ranges from 1.59cm to 1.79cm.
Those dimensions make it noticeably more portable than most 15-inch and 16-inch notebooks. The 14-inch form factor also fits more easily into smaller laptop bags.
ASUS combines the compact chassis with a 70Wh battery rather than sacrificing battery capacity for thinness. That balance should appeal to students, consultants and hybrid workers who travel regularly.
The laptop uses a backlit Chiclet keyboard with 1.7mm of key travel. It also includes a dedicated Copilot key and a precision touchpad.
Two USB-C ports handle charging and displays
The S3407AA provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports. Both support data, DisplayPort output and USB Power Delivery. Data speeds reach up to 5Gbps.
ASUS also includes two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a 3.5mm audio connection. The S3407AA specification lists HDMI 2.1 TMDS for an external display.
The port selection covers most everyday accessories without forcing users to carry a hub. However, the USB-C ports do not provide Thunderbolt-class speeds.
Photographers may notice another omission. ASUS does not list an integrated SD or microSD card reader for this model. Users who regularly transfer camera files may need an external reader.
Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 cover wireless connections
Evetech lists a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 adapter alongside Bluetooth 5.4. ASUS’s S3407AA specification also lists Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Wi-Fi 6 remains adequate for most South African fibre connections and office networks. However, the laptop does not offer the Wi-Fi 7 hardware found in some newer premium notebooks.
That distinction matters most to buyers who already own a Wi-Fi 7 router and regularly move large files over a local wireless network. It will matter far less to users on more typical home or office connections.
The FHD IR camera supports Windows Hello
The Vivobook S14 includes a Full HD infrared camera with facial recognition support for Windows Hello. A physical privacy shutter can cover the camera when the user does not need it.
The IR hardware lets users sign into Windows without typing a password or PIN each time. It also gives the machine a more convenient security option than laptops with ordinary webcams.
Built-in speakers and an array microphone handle calls and media. ASUS also includes AI Noise Canceling through its MyASUS software.
TechnologyBlog.co.za has not tested webcam quality, microphone performance or speaker output. Buyers who spend much of the day in video meetings may still prefer an external camera or headset.

The South African configuration and upgrade details come from Evetech. ASUS’s South African specifications confirm the underlying S3407AA platform.
Who should consider this configuration?
The 32GB and 4TB version targets a different buyer from the basic Vivobook S14. Its large memory and storage capacities make more sense for developers, photographers and users who keep significant amounts of data locally.
The Core Ultra 7 355 also gives the laptop current-generation AI hardware. Its 49 TOPS NPU supports the Copilot+ PC category and provides more local AI capability than older Core Ultra systems.
The OLED display strengthens the package for media and creative work. Its 95% DCI-P3 coverage is more attractive than the basic IPS panel available on other S3407 configurations.
However, the integrated graphics remain the main limitation. Buyers spending R35,000 or more should consider whether they need a dedicated GPU instead of 4TB of storage.
Video editors, 3D artists and gamers may get more value from a laptop with an Nvidia GeForce GPU. Office users may find a cheaper 16GB or 32GB configuration with a smaller SSD more sensible.
South African price and availability
Evetech lists the ASUS Vivobook S14 S3407AA with 32GB of RAM and a 4TB SSD for R35,699 as of 13 August 2026. The retailer marks it as in stock and shows a list price of R41,699.
The retailer also includes free delivery, a free ASUS backpack and Promate Lush-Pro wireless earphones with the current promotion. It advertises a three-year warranty for this configuration.
Buyers should pay particular attention to the upgrade arrangement. ASUS officially lists up to 32GB of memory and 1TB of factory storage for the S3407AA. Evetech’s 32GB memory therefore sits within ASUS’s published limit, while the 4TB SSD goes beyond the listed factory storage options.
That does not make the upgrade problematic, but it makes the retailer part of the purchasing decision. Buyers should confirm which 4TB SSD Evetech installs and how the upgrade affects warranty support.
At R35,699, this version makes the strongest case for users who genuinely need substantial local storage. Buyers who do not need 4TB should compare the lower-capacity versions before spending the extra money.
The Vivobook S14 itself presents an appealing productivity package on paper. It combines a 1.4kg chassis, OLED display, 70Wh battery and current Core Ultra AI hardware. The Evetech upgrade then adds unusually large storage without turning the machine into a bulky workstation.
