How Exail Technologies changed with its market

Exail Technologies brings together engineering businesses with much longer histories than the current name. ECA was founded in 1936 and became a pioneer in underwater robotics, while iXblue, founded in 2000, developed navigation and photonics technologies.

How Exail Technologies developed

Groupe Gorgé acquired iXblue in 2022 and combined it with ECA under the Exail brand; the listed parent subsequently adopted the Exail Technologies name.

Exail Technologies in 2026

By 2026, Exail supplied autonomous maritime systems, inertial navigation, photonics and aerospace and defence technologies to government and industrial customers.

Why the history matters

The combination created a French technology group whose capabilities span both autonomous platforms and the sensors and navigation systems needed to operate them accurately in demanding environments.
