Remitly was founded in 2011 by Matt Oppenheimer and colleagues to make international remittances easier to send through digital channels. By 2026, Remitly operated a digital remittance platform serving customers across numerous international corridors, while its leadership structure changed as the company entered a new phase beyond founder-led day-to-day management.
