IQVIA combines two older corporate histories: IMS Health, established in 1954 around healthcare information, and Quintiles, founded in 1982 as a clinical research organisation. The two businesses approached life sciences from different directions, one through data and commercial analytics and the other through drug-development and clinical-trial services.
