Yoshikazu Tanaka created the GREE social-network service as a personal project in 2004 and founded GREE, Inc. in December that year as usage expanded. By 2026 GREE Holdings oversees gaming, live entertainment and other internet businesses, while Yoshikazu Tanaka remains chairman and chief executive.
