GlobalWafers was formally incorporated in October 2011 when Sino-American Silicon Products carved out its semiconductor wafer business into a separate company in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The business already had wafer expertise and international assets inherited from its parent, allowing the new company to begin with a broader manufacturing base than a conventional start-up.
