Coursera was launched in 2012 by Stanford computer-science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, initially bringing university courses to a mass online audience. As of September 2026 the combined organisation brings together Coursera’s university and credential partnerships with Udemy’s large instructor marketplace and enterprise learning business.
