Blackbaud’s origins date to 1981, when Anthony Bakker developed computerised billing software and the company moved toward software for schools and nonprofit organisations. By 2026 Blackbaud focuses on cloud software used by nonprofits, educational institutions, foundations and other social-impact organisations.
