Two sons of tradesmen built the software their fathers never had: ServiceTitan’s home-services story

Ara Mahdessian and Vahe Kuzoyan founded ServiceTitan in 2012 after seeing that their fathers, both home-service contractors, had few modern software tools for running their businesses.

They built a cloud platform specifically for trades such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical services rather than adapting generic CRM software.

That starting point is useful context for understanding the modern ServiceTitan. The company did not arrive at its current position in one jump; it accumulated technology, customers and operating knowledge through a series of distinct transitions.

Dispatch and scheduling solved the first daily pain points

ServiceTitan connected incoming customer calls with technician schedules, job histories and mobile field information.

The AI era increased the value of capabilities ServiceTitan had already been developing. Compute, data, networking, software or infrastructure that once served narrower workloads became relevant to much larger AI systems.

Payments, marketing and reporting turned the product into an operating system

The platform expanded into estimates, financing, payroll integrations, inventory, advertising attribution and other contractor workflows.

Marketplace businesses become stronger when buyers, sellers and supporting services reinforce one another. This step gave ServiceTitan another way to deepen that network rather than relying on a single transaction type.

Industry partnerships connected software with the supply chain

ServiceTitan built integrations with equipment manufacturers and distributors so contractors could manage parts and purchasing more directly.

Armenia became a second engineering home

The Armenian-American founders opened a major office in Armenia and invested in local technical talent.

The milestone widened ServiceTitan’s software role from a point solution towards a broader workflow or platform. That usually matters because customers can connect more of their operations to one underlying data and application layer.

The 2024 Nasdaq IPO brought vertical SaaS to public markets

ServiceTitan became publicly traded under the ticker TTAN after more than a decade as a private company.

For ServiceTitan, access to public markets was more than a branding milestone. It increased financial transparency and created another route to fund expansion, acquisitions or long-term product development.

Why vertical software won by knowing what happens in the van

As of 18 September 2026, serviceTitan now provides cloud business software to home and commercial trades, connecting office staff, field technicians and customers.

For readers following the brand today, the history explains why newer announcements often connect back to technology or business decisions made much earlier.
