From early roots to cloud business communications: the RingCentral story

RingCentral was founded by Vlad Shmunis and Vlad Vendrow around the idea that business telephone systems could be delivered through software and internet infrastructure rather than only on-premises hardware.

How RingCentral developed

The company built cloud-based voice and unified-communications services, listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2013 and expanded into messaging, video, contact-centre and communications APIs. Partnerships with major telecom operators broadened distribution.

RingCentral in 2026

By 2026, RingCentral sold cloud communications and contact-centre products to organisations ranging from small businesses to large enterprises.

Its rise tracks the migration of workplace communications from physical PBX equipment toward software subscriptions that can follow employees across offices, homes and mobile devices.

Information was checked against public company material, regulatory filings and reputable independent reporting where available, using sources accessible on 18 September 2026.
