How Entain evolved into a force in online betting and gaming

Entain’s current corporate lineage runs through GVC Holdings, incorporated in Luxembourg in 2004 and developed as an online gambling group.

How Entain developed

GVC expanded through acquisitions including Sportingbet, bwin.party and Ladbrokes Coral, greatly increasing its sports-betting and gaming operations. It created the BetMGM joint venture in the United States with MGM Resorts in 2018 and changed its corporate name to Entain in December 2020.

By 2026, Entain operated online betting and gaming brands across regulated markets and retained its stake in BetMGM.
