How DB HiTek changed with its market
DB HiTek’s modern foundry history began in 1997 with the establishment of Dongbu Electronics in South Korea, building on its group’s earlier involvement in semiconductor materials.
How DB HiTek developed
It started commercial foundry production and developed speciality analog and power processes, including 0.18-micrometre BCDMOS technology. The company adopted the DB HiTek name in 2017 and spun off its design division as DB GlobalChip in 2023.
DB HiTek in 2026
By 2026, DB HiTek operated as a specialist 8-inch semiconductor foundry focused on analog, power, mixed-signal, image-sensor and related process technologies.
Why the history matters
Unlike leading-edge logic fabs, DB HiTek demonstrates the continuing importance of mature process nodes for power management, displays, sensors and automotive electronics.
