Three autonomy veterans started over from a blank sheet: how Aurora built a self-driving trucking company

Chris Urmson, Sterling Anderson and Drew Bagnell founded Aurora in 2017 after senior roles in self-driving programmes at Google, Tesla and Carnegie Mellon.

The founders deliberately designed one autonomous-driving platform, the Aurora Driver, that could be adapted to several vehicle types rather than starting with a single car model.
