From early roots to carrier-neutral data centres: the NEXTDC story

NEXTDC was founded in Australia in May 2010 by entrepreneur Bevan Slattery to build carrier- and vendor-neutral data centres.

How NEXTDC developed

The company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in December 2010 and began opening facilities across major Australian cities. Craig Scroggie became chief executive in 2012, and the business expanded its footprint and interconnection services as cloud adoption increased.

By 2026, NEXTDC operated a growing network of large data-centre campuses serving cloud providers, enterprises and network operators in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Its growth tracks the shift from corporate server rooms toward outsourced, highly connected infrastructure used for cloud, digital services and increasingly AI workloads.
