The evolution of EPAM Systems: from its origins to software engineering and digital transformation
EPAM Systems was founded in 1993 by Arkadiy Dobkin and grew from software engineering work in Eastern Europe into a global technology-services company.
How EPAM Systems developed
The company expanded its delivery network, moved into digital product development and consulting and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2012. Dobkin led EPAM for more than three decades before moving from chief executive to executive chair in 2025.
EPAM Systems in 2026
By 2026, EPAM provided software engineering, cloud, data, AI and digital-transformation services to large international clients.
EPAM’s history helped popularise the model of combining deep engineering teams in distributed locations with client-facing consulting, a structure later adopted widely across technology services.
