eMemory Technology through the years: building embedded memory and security IP

eMemory Technology was founded in Taiwan in 2000 by Charles Hsu and a team with academic roots, focusing on embedded non-volatile memory intellectual property.

How eMemory Technology developed

The company commercialised its NeoBit technology in the early 2000s and expanded into multiple embedded-memory processes that semiconductor designers could license rather than develop themselves. It later added physically unclonable function security technology through PUFsecurity.

eMemory Technology in 2026

By 2026, eMemory licensed embedded memory and security IP used by semiconductor foundries and chip designers.

Its business model demonstrates the importance of specialised intellectual property in modern chip design: not every critical function has to be invented by the company creating the final processor or system-on-chip.
