Proline: Local assembly anchors a South African PC brand

Proline is a South African technology brand established in 1994 under the Pinnacle umbrella.

The brand became known for locally assembled desktop computers and later notebooks, using local production and support to compete in a market dominated by multinational PC vendors.

Proline expanded beyond traditional PCs into mini PCs, notebooks, UPS systems and accessories while retaining local assembly and institutional support as part of the proposition.

Like Mecer, Proline operates mainly at the system-integration layer. It combines processors, memory, storage, operating systems and power components sourced from wider industry platforms into supported local configurations.

Proline today

Proline remains Pinnacle’s South African PC and technology brand, with locally assembled desktops, notebooks and related products. Pinnacle operates within Alviva Holdings.

Its significance is less about a unique processor architecture than about regional manufacturing and lifecycle support. That local layer can materially affect procurement, repairs, configuration and deployment for African organisations.
