Rapoo: How Wireless Became the Core of Its Peripherals Business
Rapoo was founded in 2002 and built its identity around wireless computer peripherals.
The company says it established the Rapoo brand in 2002 and became a leading keyboard-and-mouse brand in China before making wireless technology the centre of its differentiation.
Wireless peripherals become a wider device ecosystem
Rapoo highlights 2007 as the year it introduced 2.4GHz products, followed by 5GHz peripherals, multi-mode wireless and higher-polling-rate gaming links. It listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2011 and launched a gaming brand in 2012.
The engineering problem is the wireless link between input device and computer: latency, interference, power consumption, polling rate and receiver design all affect whether wireless can match a wired experience.
Rapoo today
Rapoo now sells keyboards, mice, headsets, gaming devices and video-conferencing peripherals while continuing to emphasize wireless technology.
The company’s history is best understood through one technical bet: that wireless peripherals could become the default rather than a compromise. Each generation reduced one of the penalties—latency, battery life or reliability—that once favoured cables.
